About Me

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I work as the GIS Department Manager for Aero-Graphics Inc.

How I got here

I spent the most formative years of my life on adventures in and around the Appalachian Mountains. My dad taught me how to fish, hike, ride a bike, and generally live outside. Eventually, I fell headfirst into the world of rock climbing, which became a gateway to mountain biking, trail running, ski touring, mountaineering, and everything in between.

As I experienced more of the Eastern United States, my appreciation for the natural world deepened. I began to understand that places unremarkable to some can be sacred to others.

My passions brought me to Boone, North Carolina, where I graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Geology and a certificate in GIS. Geology was the perfect spatially adjacent warm up to what I quickly understood to be my calling.

I became enamored with GIS, remote sensing, and environmental science. The multidisciplinary nature of these fields opens the door to endless possibilities and to drive positive impacts in our world. Using geospatial tools to help conserve and protect our cultural, recreational, and natural resources became the obvious path forward for me.

Professionally

I love to solve complex geospatial problems, and I love to learn new things. I've found that this is an excellent combination, because the they both feed each other. Currently, I manage the GIS department at Aero-Graphics Inc., where I lead a team of talented GIS professionals in delivering high quality geospatial solutions to our clients. This site is a work in progress. I plan to update this page with all of my professional experience within the coming days.

Outside of work

Outside of work, I’m an avid cyclist, trail runner, and rock climber. I enjoy fly fishing in quiet mountain streams, observing birds along the way, and ski touring in the winter.

Most recently, I completed the 2025 Tour Divide, riding nearly 2,700 miles from Banff, Alberta to Antelope Wells, New Mexico. Adventures like this push me personally, but they also fuel my professional curiosity: how much public land does the route cross, how much public land is at stake, and how could these landscapes be visualized or analyzed at scale?
